A little rain couldn't keep ghouls, Poohs and Power Rangers from prowling the streets of downtown Milan Friday evening.

The annual Downtown Merchants Trick-or-Treat event, sponsored by the Milan Area Chamber of Commerce, drew hundreds of costumed children who paraded up and down Main Street for an hour filling their pillowcases and orange pumpkin buckets with sweets and business cards.
Paddock Elementary School first-grader Brian Moore, 6, was dressed as the Star Wars bounty hunter Boba Fett. He plans to wear the same costume Halloween night when he gets in some more trick-or-treating time.
"What I like best about Halloween is that we get gooey eyes and chocolate bars," he said.
Four-year-old Oscar Haeske was dressed as a green dragon. He said the rain didn't bother him at all. His favorite take of the night was pretty simple: chocolate. He didn't know what gooey eyes were.
Milan Police Chief Jeffrey Lewis said the event came off well and without incident.
