FLORENCE E. GOODELL
Mayville
Florence E. Goodell, 100, of Mayville, a beloved mother, nana, sister, aunt and dear friend, died May 24, 2007, in Midland at home with her family.
Mrs. Goodell was born Sept. 5, 1906, in Mayville to Frank and Gertrude (Lane) Sherk. She was a retired school teacher with 33 years service in the Vassar and Mayville schools.
Mrs. Goodell was a member of the Order of the Easter Star, Mayville Bridge Club and Mayville United Methodist Women. She loved needlepoint, rug weaving, ceramics, crossword puzzles, cribbage, and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived two daughters, Janet (Lowell)Thomas of Midland and Nancy (John) Miett of Boyne City; two sisters, Grace Aumack of Mayville and Phyllis Moss of Mayville; two grandchildren, Stephen (Pauline) Thomas and Lori Jo Upleger; four great-grandchildren, Adam Upleger, Andrew Upleger, Chad (Raeann) Ramsby and Aaron Ramsby; two great-great-grandchildren, Charity Ramsby and Tyler Ramsby.
She was preceded in death by husbands Vere Morrison in 1956 and Olaf Goodell in 1975, and one brother, Dafoe Sherk.
A funeral was held Monday at the Mayville United Methodist Church. The Revs. John Ball and Robert Jones officiated. Interment was at Rich Township Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Mid-Michigan Hospice, American Heart Association, Mayville Library or Mayville United Methodist Church.

IRENE ESCHELBACH
Saline
Irene Eschelbach, 89, of Saline died May 25, 2007, at the Evangelical Home in Saline. She was born July 24, 1917, in Scio Township the daughter of Theophil and Clara (Staebler) Strieter.
She married Ray Eschelbach June 15, 1939, and he preceded her in death March 2000. She worked for The Ann Arbor News and Braun and Brumfield. She was a lifelong member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her sons, Glenn (Carolyn) Eschelbach of Saline and Garry (Chris) Eschelbach of Georgia; four grandchildren, Randy (Ann) Eschelbach, Rodney (Carrie) Eschelbach, Kimberly (Clint) Underwood and Matthew (Christin) Eschelbach; her great-grandchildren, Thomas, Ryan and Megan Eschelbach and Andelyn and Addesyn Underwood; and her sister-in-law, Carolyn Strieter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Nelson and Arwin Strieter; and her sister-in-law, Olive Schmidt.
Visitation was held Monday at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church. A funeral was held Tuesday. The Rev. Douglas Hartley officiated. Burial was at Bethlehem Cemetery in Ann Arbor.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
