Poppy Days will be held in the city of Saline. The American Legion Auxiliary will sell poppies on the sidewalks and at local businesses as a fundraiser. Contributions are used to help hospitalized and disabled veterans in need of rehabilitation and financial assistance.

"Lunch & Learn" Luncheon will be presented 11:30 a.m. by Saline Area Chamber of Commerce at Brecon Village in Saline. Mark H. Clevey, a spokesperson and advocate for small business in Michigan, will be the featured speaker. Reservations are required at a cost of $18 for chamber members and $22 for non-members, and may be obtained by calling 429-4494.

"Herbs of the Bible" will be presented 6:30 p.m. at Christ Our King Lutheran Church, 3255 Waterworks Road, in Saline. Jane Riddle, co-owner of Lodi farms Nursery, will present an interactive, fast-paced presentation of approximately 25 herbs, including the Bible verses and how the herbs are used around the world. Kids' Carnival at Woodland Meadows Elementary School will be presented by the Saline High School Student Council from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the community and to give to a local charity.

"Firehouse Friday with Bubba" will be held by W4 Country radio. There will be a free pancake breakfast at the Saline Area Fire Department from 6 to 10 a.m. Call 429-4440 for more information.

The Washtenaw County Solid Waste Program is holding a regional environmental clean-up day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Saline Department of Works. It will be a drop-off that will accept recyclable materials, appliances, household hazard waste, furniture, tires and electronic equipment. Household garbage will not be accepted. City of Saline Patrick J. Little Public Works facility is located at 1234 Tefft Court.

Saline Stone & Thistle Garden Club will hold its annual plant sale from 8 a.m. to noon. Members sell perennials that are zoned for Southeast Michigan, including wildflowers, ferns, herbs, houseplants and worm castings. Master gardeners are available for information and assistance. It will be held at United Workers Auto Hall, 601 Woodland Road, in Saline. The event is free. Call 944-7934.

Share Day will be held, with select Saline restaurants donating a portion of the day's proceeds, or make a donation at the Saline Farmers' Market to Saline Area Social Services. Call 429-4570 for more information.

Circle of Art will be held at Saline Picture Frame. It will include a silent auction featuring paintings, sculpture, jewelry, textiles and more from local artists to benefit Food Gatherers. A cooperative of military veterans organizations is offering veterans a free breakfast May 13 and 20 as a way to honor them for their service and sacrifice. Veterans must show membership cards. Family and friends are welcome and will receive free coffee or tea, but breakfast is free for veteran organization members only. Breakfast will be served both days from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at City Limits Diner and Pancake House, 220 W. Michigan Ave.
