The Milan boys' golf team hasn't won a dual meet yet, but at the rate she feels her team is improving, head coach Claire Neff doesn't believe they'll have to wait long.

"We're right where we need to be," she said after Milan dropped 17 strokes off their previous 18-hole team score at last Friday's Jefferson Invitational, where the Big Reds finished seventh in a 12-team field.
"If we can just put it all together, get all four of our guys shooting well on the same day, good things are going to happen," Neff added.
The Big Reds finished with a team score of 343 at Jefferson, easily bettering their previous 18-hole low for the season of 360.
Justin Luft led the way for Milan by carding an 80, placing him 15th overall at the tournament . He was followed by Tyler Hodges with an 86, Matt McIntosh with an 88, and Warren Losee with an 89.
"Seventeen strokes is a pretty significant improvement," Neff said.
Despite the success at Jefferson, the Big Reds are still looking for their first dual meet win of the season after dropping meets against Airport April 23 and Grosse Ile Monday. The Jets prevailed 186-165 and the Red Devils 191-173.
Against Airport, Luft again provided the Big Reds' low score with a 44. Hodges and Joel Dotson each added 46's while McIntosh carded a 50.
Biting winds on Monday led to higher scores against the Red Devils. Luft finished with a 44, Losee shot 45, Hodges followed with a 50, andDotson rounded out the Milan scoring with a 52.
But as long as the Big Reds continue to show the concentration and poise they've exhibited thus far, the outcome next time could be different.
"They're playing with a lot of intense focus," Neff said. "They make sure that they pick each other up. They've done a lot of work on chipping and putting, even if that's not the 'fun' thing to practice, and that's paying off.
