The players and coaches on the Milan baseball team maybe expected that their perfect Huron League record would come to an end sometime. But it's not likely any expected it to happen as soon or in such decisive fashion as it did Wednesday of last week.

The Monroe-Jefferson Bears overturned a 5-3 deficit with 13 runs in the game's final two innings to stun the home Big Red crowd and rout Milan 16-5.
"We came into that game winning with pitching and defense, but against Jefferson we walk six or seven guys and make six or seven errors," head coach Adam Gilles said. "You can't win when you're putting guys on base and giving teams extra outs."
The loss dropped Milan to 4-1 in Huron play, but the good news for Big Red fans is that it didn't take long for Milan to bounce back in their conference campaign.
Playing on the road Monday, Milan got a strong outing from starter Zach McGovern and several big days at the plate to blast New Boston Huron 11-2.
"They came out and hit the ball," Gilles said. "It's one thing to have maybe have two or three guys in a slump, but we had a lot more guys than that break out (against New Boston). Hitting's contagious. It was nice to see them doing the little things that we hadn't done Saturday (in losses to Plymouth-Salem)."
