Perhaps ignoring the potential long-term ramifications, an unknown suspect committed theft at a church on Elm Street, according to a report filed April 19 by the pastor of the church. According to a police report, the pastor said the thief stole three ladders that had been stored outside the church sometime during the previous week. There were no suspects and the case's status is currently closed pending any leads.
Assault
A verbal disagreement at a bar on Wabash Street turned physical April 18, resulting in Milan police being called. A 27-year-old woman from Brighton was arrested on charges of assault after she had pulled a large amount of hair from the head of a second woman she had been fighting with. Both women were forced to leave the premises.
Attempted Theft
A report was filed with Milan Police Department April 14 after a new vehicle in a lot on Dexter Street was found to have a window smashed out of it. The incident was believed to be part of an attempted theft of the vehicle, a black SUV. There were no suspects in the incident.
Traffic Arrests
Milan police made a number of arrests after traffic stops and other vehicle-related incidents between April 14 and April 20. On April 14, a 33-year-old Milan woman was stopped after an officer noticed her registration had expired, and an information check showed that her license had expired and a warrant had been issued for charges of failure to appear in court. The woman was arrested.
At approximately 4 a.m. April 15, a 20-year-old Milan man was stopped for excessive speeding and was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. He was cited for speeding and arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
On April 16, a 27-year-old Ohio man was arrested for driving with a suspended driver's license, as was a 46-year-old Ann Arbor man April 18.
A 28-year-old woman was arrested on a warrant for failing to appear in court in Sumpter Township after officers investigated a report of suspicious activity inside a vehicle in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant on Merritt Street.
