After dropping a pair of close games to Chelsea April 8, the Big Reds (3-2) took down Riverview 9-4 at home in their league opener.
Ahead 5-4 in the sixth, Milan's Lance Smith smacked a two-run double that was the start of a four-run rally. Smith finished with two hits and three RBI, while pitcher Zach McGovern improved his record to 2-0.
Milan's bats remained alive five days later when they exploded for 11 runs in the first inning against Flat Rock, leading to a 19-0 five-inning rout.
Jake Hall led the Big Reds with two hits and four RBI in the first inning.
McGovern took to the hill with a huge lead and only allowed one hit in five innings of work. McGovern struck out seven in his second complete game of the season.
In addition to Hall's offensive output, Paul Irwin and Aaron Straub each had three hits and two RBI. Michael Craig had a pair of singles.
In the opening game of a doubleheader against Chelsea April 8, the Big Reds allowed the Bulldogs only three hits, but they gave up nine walks and hit three batters, which was enough to lift Chelsea to a 7-5 win.
Milan took a 4-3 lead after three innings when Sam Rowe reached base on a single. McGovern then walked and Irwin was hit by a pitch.
With the bases loaded, Rowe scored on a passed ball and Smith drew a walk to load the bases again. Straub grounded out to first to score McGovern and Hall followed with a two-run double to score the go-ahead run.
The lead was short-lived, however. Chelsea plated four runs in their top of the fourth to go up 7-4 and held off a late Milan rally to take the victory. Hall led the Big Reds with two hits and two RBI, while Rowe added two hits.
The second game was called because of darkness after three innings with Chelsea holding a 3-1 lead.
