Teacher experience: Taught in Lynwood, Calif., at Firebaugh High School for two years and taught at Robichaud Middle School in Dearborn Heights for one year.
School you teach: Milan High School.
Grade/subject in school: Business and technology courses to high school students.
Favorite subject in school: Photography and science.
Least favorite subject in school: I didn't have one.
Something people would be surprised to know about you: I am very active. I play soccer and exercise regularly. I have been surfing, and I am also a "tech nerd."
Most influential person in your life: My mom.
What do you like most about teaching?
Something new every day.
What do you like least about teaching?
Paperwork.
What is the most challenging part about teaching?
Keeping up with all the new technology. I don't want our students to be behind.
What are some of the goals you set for students?
Importance of being well-rounded; learning can be fun; learn skills that will make their transition into college and/or the workplace a little easier.
What is the most challenging part about teaching?
Keep kids motivated to learn.
How do you handle a disruptive student?
Depends on the situation.
How do you handle a student who does not focus well?
I try to find something that interests them.
What do you tell parents about being involved in their children's education?
Ask questions.
Are students feeling more pressure to succeed today?
Some.
Walk us through a typical day for you:
I arrive at 6:50 a.m. to open the school store, fifth block accounting, sixth and seventh blocks introduction to computers. After school in-school store and then off to soccer practice.
What do you like most about teaching in Milan?
The staff, students and parents have been very supportive.
