A woman living on East Lewis Street called Milan police March 22 to report that someone had shot her dog with a BB gun. The shooting was believed to have occurred two days prior on March 20. The woman had taken the dog to the veterinarian, who confirmed the shooting. The case remains open.
Suspicious Situation
A potential Easter egg thief was reported to Milan police just after noon March 20.
According to reports, a home on Bodley Crescent had been decorated with dozens of plastic eggs. A neighbor called the police department to report that the driver of a blue pickup truck had stopped at the home, picked up approximately five eggs, opened the eggs and removed what appeared to be candy hidden inside of them, and then drove away with both the eggs and the candy.
Officers arriving on the scene found no one at home at the decorated property.
Traffic Stops
The intersection of Dexter and County streets proved to be a busy place for Milan police between 8 and 9 p.m. the evening of March 19.
At 8:05 p.m., a vehicle was stopped and a search resulted in the arrest of a 23-year-old Milan man on charges of possession of marijuana.
At 8:45 p.m., a second traffic stop at the same intersection and subsequent inquiry about the driver resulted in the felony arrest for a 31-year-old Clare man.
Disturbing the Peace
Milan police responded to the Milan Public Library 3:30 p.m. March 18 to defuse an incident of disturbing the peace. A 13-year-old had responded to being asked to leave the library by screaming profanities at the staff, who had made the request. After meeting with police, the juvenile agreed to re-enter the library and apologize to the staff..
