Hotel Hickman Wild West Adventures is the state's only registered working chuck wagon catering company and is based in Ann Arbor.
Owner Scott Thomas and his staff dress in period clothing and serve up fire-grilled steaks and chicken, cornbread, sourdough biscuits, baked beans and corn on old-fashioned enamel plates with utensils wrapped in red bandanas.
On April 28, the parish parking lot and Family Center on North Street will become slice of the Wild West from 6 p.m. to midnight for the congregation's annual fund-raiser, the Spring Stampede Dinner and Raffle.
Michael Armitage, a member of the event planning committee, said there will be a campfire in the parking lot, where the food will be cooked, plus dancing, live music and beer and wine served indoors.
"Every year, we have a different theme and this year we thought we'd 'go west.' It's going to be a lot of fun with the real chuck wagon, from 1889, right here in Milan," Armitage said. "We invite the entire community to this unique event."
To raise funds to support the parish and its charitable projects, a raffle will be held during the evening with a minimum grand prize of $5,000, plus three other runner-up cash raffle prizes and with various door prizes.
