Vicki L. Rise was traveling alone around 8 a.m. March 2 on Dennison Road north of Southwick Road, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Department, when her vehicle apparently drove left of center, collided with a guardrail on the west side of the roadway, and crashed into North Macon Creek.
The Jeep was completely submerged when rescue personnel arrived, according to reports.
The Milan Area Fire Department and the Huron Valley Ambulance responded to the accident, but Rise was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rise was wearing her seatbelt at the time and alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident, according to police.
The accident remains under investigation, police said.
Rise worked as a child care provider at Imagination Station in Milan and was a member of Post 46, Hunt and Fish Club of Dexter.
She married James Rise in 1988 and is survived by a son, Christopher, a stepson, Greg; a step-daughter, Kelra; and an adopted daughter, Nichole Keenan.
A service for Rise was held Wednesday afternoon at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home.
