Katie Elser and Matt Newton were married Aug. 26, 2006, at Mission Point Resort on Mackinac Island.

The bride is the daughter of Randy and Marianne Smith of Saline and Doug and Sandy Sorini-Elser of Ann Arbor.
The groom is the son of Fran and Joel Newton of Dataw Island, S.C., and Traverse City, and the late Jody Newton.
The maid of honor was Liz Elser of Chicago, sister of the bride.
Flower girls were Hannah and Emma Newton, daughters of the groom.
The best man was Andy Scripter of Denver, friend of the groom.
The couple honeymooned at Homestead Resort in Leelanau.
The bride is a 1998 graduate of Saline High School and earned a bachelor's degree in 2002 from Michigan State University. She is employed as an account executive at Concentra Health Services.
The groom is a 1989 graduate of Seaholm High School in Birmingham and earned a bachelor's degree from Principia College in St. Louis, Mo., in 1994. He is employed as an account executive for National City Bank.
